The Gumi Works Standard: Every basin is solid-cast using advanced high-performance concrete (UHPC / GFRC). We do not use superficial “concrete effects” or microcement coatings. The colour, strength, and velvety texture run completely through the entire piece, resulting in an authentic material density that imitates nothing.
To ensure longevity in wet environments, each piece is treated with an advanced, multi-layered sealing system that deeply penetrates the stone. This creates a highly hydrophobic barrier against water, soap scum, and oils while maintaining the natural, matte finish of raw concrete.
A: Our advanced sealing process ensures that water pools and runs off easily, protecting the basin from everyday bathroom use. Our professional-grade sealer provides high resistance agains water and cosmetics. However, we recommend avoiding prolonged contact with harsh acids, strong hair dyes, or abrasive bleach cleaners to preserve the finish.
A: Maintenance is remarkably straightforward. Clean regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and a mild, non-abrasive, pH-neutral soap (such as a gentle dish soap or specialized stone cleaner). Avoid scouring pads or highly acidic cleaners, which can wear down the protective seal over time.
A: While our countertop models are easily supported by standard vanities, freestanding monolithic models carry a more substantial weight. We provide exact weight specs prior to casting so your installation team can ensure the flooring or sub-structure is properly prepared.
A: Our handmade basins and vanities require a precise casting, curing, and multi-stage sealing process in our London studio. Standard fabrication lead time is generally 3 to 6 weeks.
